Most term insurance policies are convertible after the term on the policy has ended. A
30 Year Term Policy would be convertible into a whole life or other life insurance contract or plan. This same convertible concept applies to
10 year term,
20 year insurance or other.
Conversion life features allow people to switch to permanent insurance from temporary term policies.
30 Year Term Sample Feature
Conversion Provision: Earlier of the level premium period or age 70. Convertible to any cash value policy available at time of conversion of the 30 year term plan without evidence of insurability.
Occasionally, people find short term needs ultimately become long term.
You can take out term insurance to cover a mortgage or to provide protection until your
children graduate from college. However, there may come a time when insurance becomes
more difficult to obtain, either because of cost or ill health. The conversion aspect of term
insurance becomes important when this scenario arises.
If you own Term insurance, your policy may be convertible to a permanent plan
without evidence of insurability until the earlier of the level premium period or age 70.
